Do you knit in public? Was anyone offended/incredibly happy/curious that you were doing so?
Absolutely! I’ve mentioned before that I go to a Thursday Knitting group through Meetup and we meet at a Le Boulanger. We try to get the biggest table they have because we can have up to 14 people. We get questions all the time…and even some requests from time to time for consignment pieces. Everyone in the group is very friendly and we all love talking about our passion.
I also knit at wineries (when we stop to enjoy a bottle and a picnic), doctor/dentist offices, in nursing homes / at the hospital, in the airport / on planes, while waiting in line for concerts, in the DMV, while talking at our book club…pretty much anywhere that I am waiting or have some time and can still talk to others.
I get a lot of people who ask if I’m crocheting and what’s the difference between crochet and knitting. I do both, so it’s easy to talk about. I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone that has been offended…just curious and wondering if they could pick up needles too to pass some time while waiting.
Maybe you should play this game the next time you knit in public? I think I’ve heard each and every one of these and it sounds like lots of fun!
The 30 Day Knitting Challenge is the creation of Meggiewes who blogs atΒ Knitting in Wonderland.
Until next time, Happy Knitting!
I’ve heard everything on that bingo card, but thankfully just 1 or 2 at a time not all in one go – that would be exhausting!

Yeah…same here π Maybe it would be a game card to take with you and see how long it would take to fill it up π

I usually bring along a sock project to knit on. I get a question sometimes or usually just stares. I knit at hip hop yesterday evening; the whole hour is a good way to get some done.

While you were doing hip hop? If so, you are really coordinated and that’s awesome π I forgot to mention that my dentist / doctors always ask me about the project I was working on last…although since my Sockhead hat has been my go to travel project for the last year, they comment on my progress.

LOL! Yep. Today in the waiting room at my mom’s doc appointment. Two older ladies were mystified as I worked on my sweater. One asked if it was knit or crochet and after I responded she said, I wish I could knit. The other said I just don’t have the patience for that.

Yes, I knit or crochet in public whenever I have a few spare minutes. At the craft shows I’m usually spinning. And yes I’ve had most of those comments. When spinning sadly the main confusion is whether I’m spinning or weaving.
