Once Upon a Sock: Baby Mitten Socks

Hi All!

How in the heck did I miss yesterday’s monthly sock post? I was reminded when I opened my email this morning and saw a very lovely post from Stefanie, one of our newest members, to link up. I think it may be because I have been trying to stay offline for a bit to allow my heart to settle back in and stay away from news that only makes it race again. I have tried to keep up and counter false stories with the truth; however it’s exhausting and I don’t think I can do it for four (or eight) more years. I will certainly have a heart attack.

I have made very little progress in the last month on socks. I’ve been working on a baby blanket and switching around between 5 other WIP’s. I did knit two more rounds on my Smooth Operators…not enough to post another picture.

I have a couple of friends that are having babies in the next few months, so I thought I would make some baby socks (and probably hats too) to go with their baby blankets. I saw this pattern, Baby Mitten Socks, when searching Ravelry and thought it was genius. It looks like a regular sock versus most bootie type patterns for babies. It’s also knit out of sock yarn and size US 1 (2.25mm) DPN’s. I’m using a 20 gram skein of Toes Etc. from Kat’s Kettle in the color Mana Pool. Her shop is currently empty; however she posts on Instagram when she has shop updates. This pattern was born out of the need for the Designer to find socks that actually fit her baby and didn’t fall off.

Normally I would knit TAAT; however thought it was overkill with this pattern. Hopefully next month I’ll have a complete pair and some more progress on my Smooth Operators so I can finally take an updated pic. Look how freaking adorable these are!

If you would like to join our merry little band of knitters to talk about socks on the first Thursday of every month, please let one of us know so we can add you to our little link up party! Join Maggie at Project(s) in Progress, Katherine at fiber and sustenance, Stefanie from Wooly Cakes and Wooden Spoons and myself as we talk about our sock adventures!

Until next time, Happy Knitting!

Hi – I’d love to join your sock-chat group every month? I’ve upped my sock game recently and am averaging a pair every month or six weeks (for the first time!) – hopefully fast enough? And today I am gearing up to cast on a new pair, despite having several other things on the needles (can’t resist!).

Let me know how best I can join in, and thank you!

    1. You can absolutely join in and we’d love to have you! Are you kidding about fast enough? Sometimes I don’t get a single row done in a month due to overuse of my knitting muscles on other projects 🙂 We post on the first Thursday of every month and link up to each other. You can use the links above for your first post on March 2nd and we’ll add you to our lists! Would we list you as Felinity at Felinity Knits?

Ahh brilliant! And also, that is kind of a relief – I was trying to work out if 8-12 pairs of socks in one year was really feasible 🙂

‘Kat at felinity knits’ would be perfect for linking – looking forward to joining in with you all next month!
