Hi Friends!
I have an FO to share with you today. The Sweater Coat in Grannies is HOTH (Hot Off The Hook!) I previously blogged about this coat here and here. I started this pattern in May of 2018 and finished it a few days ago. I finished the steam blocking process yesterday and got final pics today. Of course, once my friend takes some photos wearing it, I’ll post those too!
This pattern is from the Red Heart website and is called Sweater Coat in Grannies. Karen, the friend who commissioned this from me, wanted the exact same colors as the pattern, purchased the yarn, and sent it to me. She also picked out some really rad buttons that matched perfectly. I don’t know how she did that, but they seriously are a perfect match. So retro and so cool at the same time. Speaking of which, I just realized that I was supposed to put a button at the top of the coat too. Oops! It’s already packed up and ready to go to the post office tomorrow, so I’m just gonna call that a design choice. I made it in the size Small / Medium using a size H Furls Crochet Hook. I know you’re not here to hear me blather on about all the ends I had to weave in on this thing, so let’s get to the good stuff. Pictures! This is where my handy, dandy new mannequin came in. I’ve put these in slide show view because I couldn’t decide which ones to include 🙂
This is a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I’m so happy to be putting it in the mail and sending off. Now, keep your fingers crossed that it makes it there in one piece and doesn’t get lost in LaLa Land. This is only my fifth completed project of this year, but I hope that now it’s done, I can get in some new projects!

That is a gorgeous coat! It can get lost and arrive here if it wants to. j/k – your friend will be thrilled with it, I’m sure! That’s a really huge project, but the end result is beautiful!

It’s beautiful 😍 I love anything Granny Square, and can just imagine how thrilled your friend will be 😊💕 Now I wish you a lot of patience for the ‘weaving-in-the-ends’ challenge 🙈💜

Thanks so much! I actually weaved in the ends on the granny squares as I was going along, and then weaved in the full coat ends at the end. It seriously took an entire day to do that part. Thank goodness I did it that way because I would be tearing out my hair if I had all that to do now 🙂 It’s actually in a box and on it’s way to her!
