Hi All!
Do you knit or crochet socks? Do you like to blog about them and share your progress? The first Thursday of every month, my friends and I link up with each other and talk about our socks…the good, the bad, and the ugly. The beauty of a link up party is the ability to jump in and out when you want to share….even if you’ve knit just one row or want to talk about what you’re dreaming of making next. Click the link below to join in, follow the instructions, then link back to my blog so we can all share in the happiness of your gorgeous socks! Feel free to use the beautiful OUAS images Stefanie, from stefaniecraftswithwoolpaperfabric, created just for us. All three are included within my blog.
Whoa guys and gals! My sincerest apologies for not getting this post up there and out there at midnight my time last night! I seriously thought I had another week. Oopsies! I guess with all that comes with the holiday season, it slipped my mind. Anyhoo…I’m here and I’m ready to talk about my socks…or lack of progress, I should say.
BTW, I’m not sure about the format of the new InLinkz site and hope that the link works. If not, I’ll fix it soon. I’m kind of in a rush because I have a doctor appointment this morning. The same thing with my blog…I was trying out a new look and know that I didn’t hit save, yet voila! I have a new look to my blog. I’ll tidy things up a bit later.
So, where was I? Oh yeah, socks. I knew that I was going to make the Parkamoor Socks from our very own Katherine of fiber and sustenance. She hosted a KAL on Instagram for the month of November and I was excited to knit a long. I chose the yarn that was sent to me by my sock swap partner, Reanna from Knit, Reanna, knit earlier this year. It is absolutely gorgeous and I have been dying to see that sparkle knit up into something. It’s Blue Moon Fiber Arts Super Sparkle in the colorway “Simply Succulent”. It is 92% Merino, 8% Other and is 120 grams. Check out this gorgeousness!
I did a gauge swatch and determine I needed the size 2, which is a cast on of 60 stitches. I’m using US 1 (2.25 mm) needles. I started out with two 36 inch needles; however I kept getting really bad ladders up the sides. I decided to switch to magic loop and it’s working out so much better. I’m also working on them TAAT (Two at a Time), which is my preferred method.
Here they are in all their sparkly glory! I adore the yarn…the sparkles make me so happy. I love the pattern. It’s written very well and I love the style. I haven’t gotten used to knitting cables without a cable needle; however Katherine gives you instructions for how to do that. She also offers different heels. As one who knits socks knows, not all heels fit every foot type.
After this week, I am off of work for the rest of the year…I don’t go back until January 2, 2019 (Eek!!!! Even seeing that year is crazy!) and I’m hoping for lots of crafting, knitting, crocheting, and general merriment. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t slip by in a flash like it does every year! If I don’t see you again before then, I want to wish you a Happy Holidays! Much love to you all and thank you for hanging in with me during this very trying year!
Until next time, Happy Knitting!
Ohhh, that yarn is so sparkly! I love it!

I’m anxiously counting down the last day 🙂 I tend to save up a bit of vacation for the end of the year. If there is some type of emergency, I can always use up the time. However, if I take it earlier in the year and then have an emergency, it’s not good. Lesson learned! The last several years I have been lucky and have been able to take the last three weeks of the year off.

Good plan! My leave year starts in September (academic year and all), so I treat myself to taking as many Fridays in December as possible off. It really makes the year end less stressful.

Thanks Kat! I’ve got one of your patterns queued up next! Hopefully I can make some good progress while on vacation 🙂 If I could ever get that sweater coat finished, it would free up a lot of time 😀

That’s so nice how you just have one more week of work. We still have two weeks of school. I don’t want to take a pic in this light and was so busy this week I didn’t have time to post. I may post tomorrow as the husband is off and I can rest a bit.

Tee hee…I have one DAY of work left for the year…today 🙂 And I started work at 5:30 this morning so I’ll get off at 2pm 🙂 Woo hoo! Please do post…I have the link up set up so that anyone can really post throughout the month. I leave it open from the time I post to the day before the next post is due. BTW, I love your new profile pic! Your bangs are super cute. I’ve been itching to get them again; however I’ve spent 2 years growing them out and get cold feet every time.

Thank you Katherine! The time is flying by 🙂 I can’t believe almost a week of it is gone already! However, I am enjoying myself. I even decided to knit a last minute Christmas gift for a friend. I can’t wait to see who won!
