Once Upon a Sock – August 2019

Hi Friends!

Do you knit or crochet socks? Do you like to blog about them and share your progress? The first Thursday of every month, my friends and I link up with each other and talk about our socks…the good, the bad, and the ugly. The beauty of a link up party is the ability to jump in and out when you want to share….even if you’ve knit just one row or want to talk about what you’re dreaming of making next. Click the link below to join in, follow the instructions, then link back to my blog so we can all share in the happiness of your gorgeous socks, or lack thereof, if you’re currently like me!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

I know I sound like a broken record; however I have no sock progress to speak of once again. And you know what? That’s perfectly okay! Sometimes in life, we just don’t have that spark to work on something, and I know it will come back and I’ll be excited to get back to them again.

What I have been doing is making progress on the Sweater Coat in Grannies that I last talked to you about in July of 2018. Holy cow! Has it really been that long? I decided a couple of months ago that I really needed to get this off my plate and I figured the friend that commissioned this has waited long enough to get it. My hope is to finish it off so she is able to wear it this fall. I now have all the granny squares completed and will start the process of sewing it together tonight. That’s 62 squares of deliciousness right there. You can check out my Ravelry page to see the progress pictures, but here’s a few pics of the finished squares, plus one that I loved of the final fourteen squares, ready for ends to be woven in and the last two rows of green to be finished.

In addition to the crocheted granny square sweater coat, I’ve also made progress on my current Sockhead Slouch Hat. I started this in May while we were in London and was able to make a lot of progress between airplane and train trips. The yarn is Lucky 13 Fibers Fingering Weight SW Merino/Nylon in the colorway Green Gray Speckled. I got it from a now defunct monthly sock club and it’s quite spectacular. It’s super soft and will be another staple in my wardrobe. This is my seventh one, and the fifth one for me. It is my take along project as it’s super easy to pick up and go.

I also have another FO, of which I recently got baby pictures, but I’ll share that in another post. And I also have another WIP for another baby on the go. So, although I’m not knitting on my socks right now (of which I have two in progress), I am keeping busy!

Hopefully, you’ll be able to see some yarny, sock goodness from some of the other bloggers who join in on the first Thursday of every month until I get back to it.

Until next time, Happy Knitting!

A coat in granny squares sounds interesting. How nice of you to hook that up for her.

    1. Thanks Stefanie! Yes, it was nice of me 😀 Remind me not to take on a project this size for someone else in the future though. I think if it would have been for me, it probably would’ve gotten done a lot sooner 🙂
